The Russellville church of Christ is a group of Christians who meet together to worship God and to edify one another. We accomplish both of these goals through prayer, Bible study, singing, and taking the Lord’s Supper.
The majority of the people who attend our services are baptized believers and followers of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that all men have sinned (Romans 3:23). The only way to deal with this sin was through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. When we are baptized, we are baptized into Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3 and Galatians 3:27) and our sins are washed away (Acts 22:16).
We understand that the life of a Christian is not lived behind the walls of a church building, but outside in the “real” world where others might not be Christians. Our assemblies are a time that we can retreat from the front lines of our “battles” to be strengthened. The simple point is this – Christianity should permeate everything we do. It is not just a title we wear or something we think about when we walk into a church building.
The Russellville church of Christ supports a full-time evangelist – Jonathan Caldwell. Brother Caldwell has worked with the congregation since August of 2009. He is a preacher of God’s word, but he is not an elder or pastor. He does not have the authority or desire to be “in charge.” This is, after all, a local church of CHRIST.
